Kevin Green was born on 24 May 1955 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
From an early age, his parents instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity and honesty, qualities that would shape both his business career and his personal life.
After completing his schooling, Kevin initially pursued a career in accountancy. However, his entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to leave the security of employment and establish his own business. Against the advice of many, he took the risk of becoming self-employed and quickly
built a successful enterprise, earning the respect of his peers.
The years that followed were marked by growth, achievement and financial success. Yet behind the success lay relentless pressure. Long hours, increasing responsibility and constant demands became accepted as the price of prosperity. Stress was no longer an occasional
challenge; it had become a way of life.
Following his success in South Africa, Kevin sold his business interests and relocated with his family to the United Kingdom to begin a new chapter. Once again, he built a thriving business, but the familiar pattern soon returned. Work always came first, personal balance disappeared, and chronic stress gradually took control. The strain eventually affected both his health and his family life. After being hospitalised and facing complete physical and emotional exhaustion, he made the difficult decision to return to South Africa with his family.
Believing he had learned valuable lessons, Kevin started over once again. Another business venture grew rapidly into a successful enterprise. Unfortunately, history repeated itself. As the business expanded, so did the pressure, and stress once again tightened its grip. This time, the consequences were even more severe.
Eventually, Kevin suffered a complete physical and emotional breakdown and was diagnosed Acute Stress Disorder (ASD) and severe burnout. It was the turning point that changed his life. With the support of medical professionals, appropriate treatment and a lengthy period of recovery, he slowly regained his health. Recognising that no level of business success was worth sacrificing his wellbeing, he sold his business interests and began planning for retirement.
During the years that followed, Kevin devoted himself to studying stress, burnout and recovery. Combining extensive research with his own personal experiences, he wrote No Rest From Stress to help others recognise the warning signs before reaching breaking point. His vision extends beyond the book itself through a dedicated website and blog designed to educate, encourage and support people living with chronic stress and burnout.
Kevin's desire is that, through the pages of this book, readers will gain a
deeper understanding of stress, learn to recognise its warning signs, and
discover practical ways to regain balance, resilience and control over
their lives. More than anything, he hopes his own journey will inspire
others to believe that recovery is possible.
